BURNET — Inks Lake State Park will welcome visitors of all abilities for its fourth annual Fun for All event on April 25, offering a day of hands-on outdoor experiences designed to make nature more accessible to everyone.

The free, family-friendly event invites individuals with disabilities, their families and caregivers to explore a range of adaptive recreational activities from kayaking and fishing to demonstrations of specialized equipment that opens the outdoors to more Texans.

At the heart of the event is a mobile adaptive recreation unit—a traveling trailer equipped with specialized gear such as all-terrain track chairs and other mobility devices that allow participants to navigate trails, shorelines and other park features with greater ease. The unit brings equipment directly to parks and communities across Texas, helping reduce physical barriers and giving more Texans the freedom to experience the outdoors independently.

“This effort is about reducing barriers and opening the outdoors to more Texans,” said Jessica Burke, Accessibility Manager for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. “With support from Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and generous donors, we’re able to bring adaptive equipment directly to parks and into communities—so people can experience these places in ways that simply weren’t possible before.”

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation secured private funding to purchase and donate the trailer and mobile adaptive equipment to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for use in state parks and outreach events statewide.

Support for the initiative comes from dedicated partners including NextEra Energy Foundation, the Jeanie Rabke Wyatt Family Foundation and BNSF Railway Foundation, whose investment is expanding access to outdoor recreation across Texas.

The Fun for All event is part of a broader effort by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to enhance accessibility across the state park system, from infrastructure improvements to expanded programming and equipment availability.

No registration is required to attend. Day use park admission is free for this special event.
