10-16 | TPWD to Host Public Scoping Meeting on Fisheries Management Efforts in Kerr County Following July Floods

HUNT – On Oct. 27, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Inland Fisheries Division will host a public meeting at the Kerr Wildlife Management Area to discuss impacts of the July floods on fisheries resources in Kerr County, present fisheries management plans for the Guadalupe River and local community fishing lakes to support flood recovery and invite public input.

Topics slated to be covered at the meeting include:

  • Flood impacts to fisheries resources, including Guadalupe Bass (state fish of Texas)
  • Fisheries research, monitoring, and management plans for the Guadalupe River and flood-impacted Community Fishing Lakes in Kerr County
  • Conservation best practices for helping fisheries resources rebound in the Guadalupe River
  • Information about when and what type of permits may be needed for riverside landowners and local communities engaging in river restoration and recovery efforts
  • Strategies for monitoring and control of aquatic and riparian invasive species, such as giant reed

The public meeting information is below:

When: Oct. 27, 5-7:30 p.m.
